Houston-Dave Martin has officially filed for Houston City Council Member District E. The current District E Council Member, Mike Sullivan, is running for Harris County Tax Assessor Collector. The Special Election to replace him will be the same day as the General Election, Tuesday November 6, 2012.
Dave was born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University. He serves as managing director of Marsh & McLennan Companies, a Global Fortune 250 Company. His work background has been dedicated to financial operation and business development
Dave serves as a Trustee on the Humble ISD School Board; he was first elected 8 years ago. During this time he has served as President of the Board and the Chairman of the Board Finance Committee. In 2011, Dave led the charge to alter their Instruction & Curriculum Department. This led to a reduction in administrative expense and helped many of the operations to be more efficient.
Dave also serves on the Board of Directors for the Harris County Houston Sports Authority, a volunteer position. Their goal is to attract new revenue into Houston through state of the art sports facilities bringing in major sporting events, entertainment and conventions.
Dave and his wife Julie have been married for 29 years. For the last 20 years they have been raising their family in Kingwood. They are parishioners at St. Martha Catholic Church. They have been active in area sports program and Dave has coached youth for many years. Dave has been involved with Greater Houston Partnership and a member of “Raise your Hand Texas”, an advocacy organization dedicated to supporting Texas Public Schools.
